The
Star of the Show
Throughout
her career, Stephanie has exhibited amazing versatility,
appearing in over 60 television shows and movies. Stephanie has
had the opportunity to spread her artistic wings in a wide range
of milieus from sci-fi to prime-time dramas, which included a
starring role in the 1993 smash-hit TV show, SeaQuest DSV.
She also appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generation;
Beverly Hills 90210; and the popular TV series, Dynasty,
for which she is best known for her role as the ultra glamorous
and sultry Sable Colby. Stephanies long list of
accomplishments also includes nominations for a Golden Globe (Sister
Kate) and a Peoples Choice Award (The Colbys).
Feeling
her Power
A
word to women in their 50s and older: Never let age stop
you from reaching your goals. Stephanie lives this
philosophy on a daily basis.
When asked about her recent challenging role as Elizabeth I
of England in Elizabeth Rex by Timothy Finley playing at
a theatre in England, she said confidently, Im in my
50s and feeling my power. I couldnt have been a minute
younger or a minute less experienced for this special role.
It is this unshakable confidence that is a part of her ageless
beauty.
Her
secret 'Good Girl' persona
Unlike
the cool and calculating characters shes played on TV,
Beacham is in reality a very down to earth and kind
person. Every day I try to extend a kindness in some way,
either by sending a postcard to somebody, or dropping a
contribution in a charity box she says. Stephanie has been
a spokesperson for the American Speech, Language and Hearing
Association and has worked closely with UNICEF. Completely deaf
in her right ear, Stephanie has only 70% hearing in her left,
but she doesnt let this get in the way of her work. She
also served on the Board of Directors for Free Arts for Abused
Children and is associated with the Tinnitus Society of Great
Britain and the Steering Dogs for the Impaired.
Love
is in the Air
Her
big break came when she was asked to co-star with Marlon Brando
in The Nightcomers. Because of her superb performance
and publicity from the film, she was offered work with the
Nottingham Playhouse, which included A Dolls House,
The Homecoming, and The Tempest. Love bloomed
when she appeared with her co-star, John McEnery, an old friend
who later became her husband. Soon, two beautiful daughters,
Chloe and Phoebe, entered their lives.
Staying
Fit... with no Excuses
One
of the most impressive things about Stephanie when you meet her
is how youthful and fit she appears. Before our first interview,
she had just returned from roller blading around her beach
house. Not bad for a woman her age!
You
can sum up Stephanies philosophy on fitness in a few short
words: Staying fit takes work; not excuses. Stephanie does 30
minutes of aerobics 3 times a week. For tone, you also
have to use light weights. Carrying shopping bags doesnt
count. After all, how many excuses can you make? says
Stephanie.
A
glamorous Grandma
When
not filming a movie or TV show, she spends a good deal of her
free time enjoying her grandson Jude. He keeps her hopping so
much that she describes keeping up with him as, The best
aerobic exercise there is. He cant say the word Grandma,
so he calls her Glamour instead, not knowing how
perfectly that term describes Stephanie. That Grandma part
of me doesnt give a two-pence about aging! insists
Stephanie.
If
there was an award given for balancing a warm, loving role as
Mother & Grandmother with the glamour and glitz of stardom,
it would certainly go to Stephanie Beacham. Clientele salutes
you, Stephanie, for being a lovely inspiration to all women at
every age.
