Stephanie Beacham was born in 1949. After studying at Rada, she went on to have a successful career in film, TV and theatre on both sides of the Atlantic. She starred in the movie The Nightcomers with Marlon Brando, played Sable Colby in the TV series Dynasty, and is currently appearing in the comedy A Busy Day at the Lyric Theatre, London. She is divorced, with two daughters, and lives in Los Angeles.


What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Tea in hand, task completed, job well done.

What is your greatest fear?

Not caring.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

Dithering.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?

Monstrous certainty.

What vehicles do you own?

A Mercedes in LA, a BMW in London

What is your greatest extravagance?

My imagination.

What objects do you always carry with you?

Hopefully the ones I'm going to need.

Where would you like to live?

When I finally make up my mind, I'll live there.

What do you most dislike about your appearance?

My hair is annoying me these days.

What is your most unappealing habit?

No one has dared tell me.

What is your favourite smell?

A baby's neck.

What is your favourite journey?

Going down the California incline to Pacific Coast Highway, and home.

What is your favourite fantasy?

I don't have fantasies - I make plans.

Should the Royal Family be scrapped?

They are scrapping already.

Do you believe in capital punishment?

Not often.

For what cause would you die?

Good living.

Do you believe in monogamy?

Constantly.

Have you ever said 'I love you' and not meant it?

Not today.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

'Sorry' and 'I'm not sure'.

What is your greatest regret?

Don't believe in them.

What would your motto be?

Good better best never let it rest till the good is better and the better best.

How would you like to be remembered?

In laughter.

What is the most important lesson life has taught you?

Keep on truckin'.
