CD:
Elvis: 30 No 1 Hits (RCA)
I'm
revisiting Elvis at the moment - I really like him but hadn't
really listened to his music for a long time. When you consider
how exciting that music is today and how even more exciting it
must have been when it first came out, it's simply
awe-inspiring. My other favourite CD is the Berlin Philharmonic
Orchestra's recording of Mahler's
Symphony No 5 (EMI Classics). How's that for a big
leap?
Book:
I
really enjoyed reading Enduring Love
by Ian McEwan (Vintage, £5.99)
It's about all the things that interest me, and asks questions
about the nature of God, spirituality and mortality. To find
those subjects explored in a novel is very rewarding. Los
Angeles, where I live, is quite spiritual, very healthy and
earthy, and I find I can ask questions about things such as
reincarnation.
Film:
A Beautiful Mind
I
watched it twice in the same evening. It was such a shame that
Russell Crowe, who plays the mathematical genius John F Nash,
was behaving so badly in his private life around the time that
the film came out, and consequently turned people against him.
Otherwise I'm sure he would have won an Oscar for such a
brilliant performance.
Buy:
A
few little pieces from Joseph
- I think they are great for wardrobe staples. Their basic white
ribbed T-shirts go with absolutely everything. I'm Joseph mad
and wear a lot of their clothes. You shouldn't have to pay the
money you do for a T-shirt, although the cut does make up for
it. I like today's clothes but I do rather mourn the loss of
glamour from my Dynasty days, for example. Then it was
written into our contracts that we were not to be seen out and
about wearing jeans or without wearing make-up.
Web:
simply-stephanie.0catch.com
It's
a fan site about me set up by a girl called Maggie, who happens
to be both a fan of mine and a computer buff. It's amazing. I
can't believe the experience she has in computers, which I know
nothing about. The site lists my filmography and biography and
there are also photo galleries. Maggie must know more about me
than I do myself!
Stephanie
Beacham can be seen in the new series of Bad Girls on ITV1 this
summer.
