The question
'What do women want?' has exercised greater minds than Chris
Tarrant's; Sigmund Freud himself gave up on it. He, however, was
not a game-show host.
In Man O Man Tarrant, surrounded by glamorous hostesses,
presides over a sublimely silly game in which ten eager males
strut their stuff in front of 300 excited women, seated at tables,
nightclub style, with 'computer voting pads'. Elimination rounds
whittle the lads down, each loser being pushed without warning
into a pool.
Some of the rounds actually involve a degree of talent or wit;
compared to Singled Out (running recently on BBC 2), this
is Plato's Symposium. And what do women want? To sit at tables and
whoop? This cannot be the whole story. ~ Nigel Andrew |
