It's
a strange thing, but think of any potboiler drama you've ever seen
on TV and you'll remember the swines a lot sooner than the saints
- if gentlemen prefer blondes, television producers definitely
prefer bitches. And it's another strange thing, but when you go
through the names on this list you might wonder what some of the
women are doing on it. And wouldn't anyone married to Basil Fawlty
grow a sharp tongue and a thick skin?
Others
are more clear cut - Joan Collins made Alexis Carrington the
deadly doxy of Dynasty and Kate O'Mara made a profession
hiring out her bitch persona to every Seventies and Eighties
soap from The Brothers to Triangle. Then there's
Dorian, Miss Piggy and the strongest link of all, Anne Robinson.
